Since I've been in Orlando, surrounded at work by creative types, I've started to feel the overwhelming urge to shoot something...pedestrians, drivers, a film project.
One of my mentor meetings from being a finalist in the Script Pipeline TV Writing Competition got me thinking of shooting a season of web eps of Obnoxious Older Sister as a supplement to my pilot. Which was a great idea! Except, I just moved cross country and am completely broke.
Then this week I happened upon Kickstarter. It's a fundraising website for creative projects. You set a goal for how much money you need to fund a creative endeavor, like making a film, and the site enables people to donate to your project. It's like asking your social circle to all chip in a dollar so you can have your production budget. You only receive the funds if you meet your goal, and I'm sure there are probably a couple of other provisions.
Still, what a great idea!
So if you've been wondering, WTF (Where's the Funding?), now you know. Now, go out there and get your films funded so you can shoot something that won't land you in jail!
